Moho Caye

Moho Caye is a small island 12 miles east of Placencia that boasts stunning beaches with crystal clear blue water. This beautiful Caye was a favorite stop on our trip to Belize. We loved playing with our toddler in the beautiful blue shallow calm waters.

How To Get There

Take a half to full day snorkeling tour to this little slice of paradise. We booked our tour through 7 Days Adventure in Placencia. Henry, our guide, took us on a 45 minute boat ride to Moho Caye and guided a snorkeling tour spotting beautiful fish. We booked a half day trip because we were unsure how our little one would manage. We loved the beautiful beach at Moho Caye so much we asked Henry if we could extend our trip, which we appreciate that he was willing to do. Water, cocktails, and snacks (chips and fruit) were provided (lunch is provided with a full day trip). After snorkeling Henry spotted a few sting rays and a nurse shark.

What to Know Before You Go

Moho Caye is a tropical paradise without restaurants or bars. So plan to bring what you need for the day or check with your tour company to ensure food, water, and beverages will be supplied. There are restrooms on the Caye.

Depending on how the wind and swells are each day the boat ride can be bumpy. Our boat ride to Moho was bumpy but well worth it once we saw the calm crystal clear blue waters of Moho Caye.

Be sure to pack out what you bring on the island.

What to Bring

Of course don’t forget sunscreen. Although the island has plenty of palm trees for shade. If you plan on swimming or snorkeling you will be sun exposed.

Sunshirts can be a great idea for long days in the sun.

Reusable water bottle, if possible to limit plastic waste.

If you are traveling with littles a few beach toys and extra snacks are always a good idea.

Happy Travels!
